IMAGE CARRIER, PROCESS CARTRIDGE, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance image carrier which prevents the occurrence of an image fault relating to color reproduction by reducing the surface characteristics of an electrically conductive substrate between a plurality of the image carriers, more particularly the variation in lightness and adjusting the lightness on the surfaces of the respective substrates to prescribed values and a process cartridge, and an image forming apparatus carrying these.

SOLUTION: The image carrier has at least a photosensitive layer on the electrically conductive substrate and is mounted on the process cartridge for the color image forming apparatus of a tandem system having an image forming means for forming a toner image on the surface of the image carrier and an optical sensor for detecting the toner density of the toner image. The surface of the electrically conductive substrate is sand-blast processed.
