PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide attenuator capable of stably realizing a small attenuation amount by precisely determining the attenuation amount in a waveguide attenuator comprising a radio wave absorption member in a waveguide. SOLUTION: A radio wave absorption member 10 includes a cylindrical attenuation unit 12 and a cylindrical matching unit 14. In a waveguide 20, a length L<SB>c</SB>of an attenuation unit waveguide 22 that is a portion including the attenuation unit 12, and a length L<SB>t</SB>of a matching unit waveguide 24 that is a portion including the matching unit 14, are determined based on a 1/4 wavelength of an intra-tube wavelength. Furthermore, a characteristic impedance of the attenuation unit waveguide 22 and the matching unit waveguide 24 is determined to satisfy matching conditions. An attenuation amount of a waveguide attenuator 1 can be adjusted by changing an inner diameter D<SB>0</SB>of the attenuation unit 12 and the matching unit 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
