<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripper which is used for gripping and operating a minute object of the order of micrometers. <P>SOLUTION: The gripper 1 is formed of a pair of arms 10, 10 each having a grip section 11 for pinching and supporting an object, and a drive mechanism 20 for approaching/separating the grip sections 11 of the respective arms 10, 10 to/from each other. The grip sections 11 of the arms 10, 10 have gripping surfaces 11s opposed to and in parallel with each other, and the drive mechanism 20 approaches/separates the grip sections 11 of the arms 10, 10 to/from each other while maintaining the gripping surfaces 11s in a mutually parallel state. In this manner the gripping surfaces of the grip sections of the arms 10, 10 can grip the object while keeping the mutually parallel state, and therefore the gripper can positively grip even a spherical object, which enables the gripper to always grip an object with the gripping surfaces 11s kept in parallel with each other irrespective of the size of the object to be gripped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
