PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool insert for steel turning comprising a base material body and a coating film. SOLUTION: The cutting tool insert for steel turning comprises the base material body and the coating film. The coating film includes the first innermost layer area comprising at least two layers of TiCxNyOzof x+y+z=1 and having total thickness of 0.7-4.5μm; a second layer area mainly comprising Al2O3; a series of one or several layers having individual thickness of >0.15-0.8μm and TiCxNy(x+≤1); and the outermost layer area having total thickness of the outermost layer area thinner than 2.5μm and including an Al2O3layer having thickness of >0.1-0.4μm, and has coating film total thickness in a range of 2.0-12.0μm.
