PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk loading apparatus which has simple constitution, in which fault caused by erroneous insertion of a small diameter disk can be prevented, and which has high reliability. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises: a plurality of tray units provided being superimposed on each other, each tray unit being movable among a first position at which a disk can be loaded and unloaded, a second position at which the disk is housed and stands by, and a third position at which the disk can be played, and each tray unit including a first tray 6 being movable between the first position and the second position, and a second tray 7 provided at the first tray 6 being superimposed and being movable between the second position and the third position when the first tray 6 is at the second position; and a tray drive unit for driving the first tray 6 and the second tray 7, wherein a distance A between a lower end part of the second tray 7 and an upper plane part of the first tray 6 is set to be half of the thickness of the disk or less.
