PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure developing device for securely stirring and mixing toner and developer and supplying the mixture to a developing roller. SOLUTION: The developing device 1 has a housing 11 divided into two compartments by a partition plate 16 such that the two compartments communicate with each other only at both their ends. The side of one of the compartments of the housing 11 is open and the developing roller 13 is disposed in the opening. A toner supply port 50 is formed in the upper wall of the other compartment of the housing 11. Spiral stir rollers 12a and 12b are disposed in the corresponding compartments of the housing 11. In addition, a rib 15 is formed around the toner supply port 50 so as to extend a position below the average liquid surface of developer supplied into the housing 11 and cover the toner supply port 50.
