White polyester film containing white pigment(s) and fire retardant(s), in which the fire retardant is soluble in the polyester and is added directly during film production in the form of a masterbatch which is pretreated by gradually heating under reduced pressure with stirring. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of this film by feeding a polyester melt into an extrusion die (or more than one melt into a coextrusion die in the case of multi-layer film) with the addition of a fire retardant masterbatch, extruding the melt(s) onto a cooling roller, then biaxially stretching and heat-fixing the film.
