<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately and easily judge the relative positional relation between printing in a forward direction and printing in a backward direction on recording paper when a reciprocating print head prints in both forward and backward directions. <P>SOLUTION: Comparison patterns 46, 51 and reference patterns 47, 50 are separately printed to two print areas 43, 44 located via a boundary extended in the moving direction of the print head. The reference patterns 47, 50 are printed corresponding to the movement in one direction of the print head. The comparison patterns 46, 51 are printed corresponding to the printing in two directions of the print head. When the relative positional relation between the printing in the forward direction and the printing in the backward direction is proper, the comparison patterns 46, 51 become equal to the reference patterns 47, 50. Therefore, the relative positional relation can be judged to be proper when the comparison patterns 46, 51 and the reference patterns 47, 50 are judged to be equal after judging whether the comparison patterns 46, 51 are equal to the reference patterns 47, 50 or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
