<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit having simple constitution and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting the installation state of a cartridge to/from which the unit can be correctly attached/detached and a connection state between a drive transmission member of the cartridge and a body driving member. <P>SOLUTION: Each cartridge has cartridge electric contacts 27a, 27b formed on one-end side and the other end side of the cartridge C in the longitudinal direction of the cartridge C so as to be electrically connected to body electric contacts 23a, 24b when the cartridge C is correctly installed in the image forming apparatus 14. The cartridge electric contacts 27a, 27b are electrically connected to each other.
