<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating organic waste such as garbage in a short time and reusing the treated organic waste as inexpensive organic fertilizer, a soil conditioner, a fermentation promoting material and livestock feed. <P>SOLUTION: Organic waste is heated in an airtight vessel while agitating it to raise the temperature in the vessel to 100-175°C and keep the pressure in the vessel over normal pressure and below 0.8 MPa. At least a part of organic waste is decomposed and formed into fine particles to form a decomposed material-suspended material of organic waste. Then, the airtight vessel is opened to the atmosphere to return the pressure in the vessel to atmospheric pressure. A compounding material is mixed in the particulate decomposed material-suspended material of organic waste to prepare a mixture having 40-70 wt% average moisture content. The prepared mixture is dried to have ≤40% average moisture content by heating it to 70-130°C under atmospheric pressure while supplying air to obtain a powdery material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
