摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase delay element, a method for manufacturing the phase delay element, a substrate having the phase delay element, a method for manufacturing the substrate, and a light feeding method and a liquid crystal display apparatus using the phase delay element.

SOLUTION: The phase delay element includes a bottom part and an opposite part formed integrally with the bottom part and opposed to a reflection layer and is constituted so as to supply second light obtained by delaying the phase of the wavelength of first light made incident on the bottom part by 1/4 phase to the reflection layer through the opposite part and eject forth light obtained by delaying the phase of the wavelength of third light reflected by the reflection layer and made incident on the opposite light by 1/4 phase through the bottom part. Consequently light which is not applied to a transmission window, especially light which is reflected by the reflection layer but may be lost, out of backlight can be efficiently utilized.
