PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce effect of heating to diamond during manufacture and improve luminous efficiency at the time of usage. SOLUTION: The discharge device comprises a hollow body 2 having translucency and a pair of cold cathodes 5 arranged inside this hollow body 2, and the cold cathodes 5 have a leading-in conductor 6 which comes in from the outside of the hollow body 2 into the inside, an electrode 8 connected to this leading-in conductor 6, a diamond film 9 formed at least on a part of the surface of this electrode 8, and a radiation part 10 which radiates the heat transmitted to this diamond film 9 toward the outside of the diamond film 9.
