PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment for stably obtaining the output of an optical encoder controlling an emission light amount by a receiving light amount as a digital signal. SOLUTION: The electronic equipment using the optical encoder for calculating position information on the output of a comparison means includes a light emitting means, a light emitting control means for switching on or off the light emitting means, a light receiving means, the comparison means for comparing the output of the light receiving means with a reference value, and a reference value modification means for modifying the reference value. When the light emitting means is switched off by the light emitting control means, the reference value is matched with an output of the light receiving means at a switching-off time by the reference value modification means.
