PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an unauthorized use by a third person effectively while suppressing an operational burden on a user. SOLUTION: This unauthorized use preventing system comprises a portable terminal provided with a short range wireless communicating means, and a communication unit mutually communicable with the short range wireless communicating means in the portable terminal. The communication unit comprises a means for transmitting acknowledge to a portable telephone in response to origination from the portable terminal, a means for originating a monitor signal to the communication unit through the short range wireless communicating means when the portable terminal begins operation of a predetermined function provided in the portable telephone and the operation of which is limited, and a means for releasing the operational limitation of the predetermined function upon receiving the acknowledge from the communication unit in response to the origination of the monitor signal.
