PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which saves electric power by performing proper switching between an optical shake correction system and an electronic shake correction system. SOLUTION: A control part 11 normally sets an electronic shake correction processing part 5 to electronic vibration-proof mode (an optical shake correction processing part 6, an angular speed sensor 7, and a correction optical system drive circuit 16 are not in an operation state) to be operated. The control part 11 maintains the electronic vibration-proof mode when a lower-power-consumption mode is set. The control part 11 switches the mode to the electronic vibration-proof mode when the value of a moving vector is larger than a prescribed threshold and maintains an optical vibration-proof mode when the value of the moving vector is less than the specified threshold. The control part 11 temporarily cancels the optical vibration-proof mode once a zoom switch 15 is operated to put the camera back in the electronic vibration-proof mode. The control part 11 when making a time-up decision after completion of photography cancels the optical vibration-proof mode and puts the camera back in the electronic vibration-proof mode.
