PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy for detecting a feature portion such as the face of an object, in a digital camera. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with a menu provider for providing a focus area selecting menu for allowing a user to select a focus area, a feature detector for detecting the feature of the object, and an area setting section for setting the feature detected by the feature detector to the focus area.
