PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image defect resulting from paper powder from occurring even using recycled paper or imported paper including much loading material. SOLUTION: A pair of paper powder removal rollers 1 is installed in a paper carrying passage 81 starting at a paper feed part toward an image transfer part so as to face each other through a paper carrying face. Then, a voltage of reversed polarity to the charging polarity of a photoreceptor drum 60 is applied to the paper rear surface side roller 12 of the pair of paper powder removal rollers 1. Accordingly, paper powder 4 adhered to the front surface of a paper P is moved to the paper front side roller 11 to remove it from the upper surface of the paper P. To suppress the occurrence itself of the paper powder 4, desirably, the paper powder removal rollers 1 are pressed against each other and the paper P is passed therebetween to compress the paper P so as to prevent the paper powder from coming off the rollers.
