The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for inking an applicator element (14) of an electrophotographic printer or copier. Said arrangement comprises a magnetic roll (28) provided with a rotatable envelope (26) having an outer surface to which a two-constituent mixture of toner particles and ferromagnetic carrier particles adheres. The two-constituent mixture adhering to the outer surface of the magnetic roll sleeve (26) can be guided past the surface of the applicator element (14) to be inked. The magnetic roll (28) comprises a magnetic rotor (30) which is provided with magnetic elements (32, 1 to 7) and arranged inside the magnetic roll sleeve (26).
