A place status management system for quickly determining whether or not any objects or persons exist in a predetermined place such as parking lot. A place status management system (1) comprising radio tags (10) located in a plurality of radio tag areas within a management area; a radio tag reading apparatus (20) for managing the radio tags (10) existing within a communication area; and a management apparatus for managing the radio tag reading apparatus (20) within the management area; wherein the radio tag reading apparatus (20) includes a radio tag registering part (23) for producing radio tag registry information in which the radio tags (10) existing in the communication area are associated with the radio tag areas, and a radio tag reading part (24) for accessing the radio tags (10) in the radio tag registry information to determine whether any objects exit in the radio tag areas, and wherein the management apparatus includes a place status information producing part (33) for producing, based on a result of the determination by the radio tag reading part (24), place status information showing whether any objects exit in the radio tag areas.
