Mail processing terminal with monitoring of the mail content

The terminal has a digitizer (30) and a radio frequency identifier reading/writing unit (32) to read a destination address and a sequential identification code on a mail article, and to convert them into a format permitting their storage in a monitoring database (10A). A unit communicates a determined part of the database with a remote computing server (14) through a communication network (12). The database contains postal data and unique identification number associated to the article. An independent claim is also included for a method of stamping mail articles.
