A triazole derivative represented by general formula (1); and an organic ele ctroluminescent element having a layer containing a triazole derivative represented by general formula (1) or (2). The derivative is excellent in electron transport efficiency, hole blocking and heat resistance, and the el ement is excellent in luminescence efficiency, luminance and stability.
