Modulators of peroxisome proliferator activated receptors

Compounds represented by Formula (I) are disclosed. These compounds are useful in the preparation of a medicament for the modulation of a peroxisome proliferators activated receptor (PPAR). Methods of preparing the described compounds are also disclosed. A method of determining whether a compound does or does not interact directly with peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor, comprising the step of specifically binding a radiolabeled compound of formula (I) to the ligand binding domain of the peroxisome proliferators -activated receptor, is also described.
