The controller (1) has a semiconductor switch (T1) with an end connected to an end (P) of a power supply source. A relay (RLY1) is connected to another end of the switch and is connected selectively to a low or high speed function end. A MOSFET transistor (T2) is connected between low speed function end and an end (Q) of the source. The switch is placed in a non conducting state when a windshield wiper is not activated.
