A unit (1) for feeding filters to a filter assembly machine (4), wherein at least one deflecting device (9) receives a respective succession of filter portions (2) in an axial direction (6), and feeds the filter portions (2) to the filter assembly machine (4) in a transverse direction (7) crosswise to the filter portions (2); the deflecting device (9) being defined by a fixed frame (12) supporting an input (10) and an output (11), and by an extractable box (31) fitted movably to the fixed frame (12) and supporting a first conveying device (46) for conveying the filter portions (2) in the axial direction (6), a second conveying device (45) for conveying the filter portions in the transverse direction (7), and a deflecting member (64) for diverting the filter portions (2) to the transverse direction (7).
