PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating cutting tool insert having a sharp cutting blade and effective for mechanical machining of, especially, non-ferrous metal material such as titanium, aluminum, brass, bronze and plastic. SOLUTION: This cutting tool insert for metal machining is provided with a film comprising at least one layer of abrasion resistant layer and a base material, and formed with the cutting blade by crossing a flank and a rake face. The cutting blade, practically, does not comprise a radius part of the cutting blade, and the film is eliminated by cutting to a part close to the cutting blade on the flank, and the film on the rake face has surface roughness less than 0.3μm over 0.25 mm of measurement length.
