PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoplastic resin which can melt the thermoplastic resin at a low temperature, eminently reduce enthalpy required for melting, and improve a dispersion and mixing. SOLUTION: An extrusion material of the thermoplastic resin or its mixture is supplied to the upstream side of the heating cylinder (3) of a twin-screw extruder (1). A supercritical inert fluid is injected into a melting domain (15) in which the extrusion material exists in a solid state and a half-melting state. The amount of the inert fluid to be injected is controlled not to exceed the saturation solubility of the inert fluid by the viscosity of the molten extrusion material measured by a viscometer (10) set on the downstream end side of the heating cylinder (3).
