摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile object detection method and system capable of detecting positions irrespective of the shape of a ceiling on which markers are positioned, while reducing the cost of installing the markers on the ceiling. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the position of a mobile object is for detecting the position of the mobile object by means of the mobile object detection system comprising an imaging means mounted on the mobile object for taking images and outputting digital image data, an image processing means for processing the image data, and the markers installed above the mobile object to indicate their respective coordinate positions using colors and shapes to indicate the absolute coordinates of the position where each of the markers is installed. The method includes an imaging process in which an imaging part images one or more of the markers in one image; a coordinate detection process in which the image processing means detects the absolute coordinates of each marker through image processing by which the colors and shapes of the markers imaged are detected and recognized; and an imaging point detection process in which the image processing means calculates the relative coordinates between the center of the image taken and the markers and detects the position of an imaging point based on the relationship between the absolute coordinates detected and the relative coordinates.
