PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component and method in which an optical fiber covering cord is firmly held and fixed without causing breaking or falling of an optical fiber and in which the component can be easily attached, in connecting optical fibers. SOLUTION: A collet chuck is conically shaped at both ends and cylindrical in the external shape, having two or more slits in the longitudinal direction, with a covering cord housed in the center of the cylindrical section. In addition, the center of the conically shaped section is provided with a bore smaller than the outer size of the covering cord and suitable for a covering cord chuck. The collet chuck fixing component is cylindrical and provided with a bore equal to the outer diameter of the body to be engaged with. One end of the fixing component is such that the bore is protruding in a convex shape, with the convex having a taper along the conical shape of the collet chuck. By screwing in the collet chuck fixing component in the direction tightening the chuck part, the chuck part of the collet chuck is tightened in the component for holding/fixing an optical fiber covering cord.
