PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a complex structure around a sensor while maintaining a distance between a sensor and a transfer belt constant and also protecting the sensible part of the sensor from soil caused by toner or the like. SOLUTION: To detect displacement of an adjustment image pattern 51 on the transfer belt 11, a solenoid 48 is excited. Thereby, a shutter 43 is opened and the sensible part of the color adjustment sensor 41 is uncovered. In addition, a contact roller 42 is pressed to the transfer belt 11.
