The invention relates to a method and device for raising a seat of a motor vehicle, comprising a single seating unit having a frame (1) which is articulated on the floor (10) and a backrest (2,20) which is articulated on the seating unit. The vehicle is provided with elements for attaching seat belts which are coupled to the frame (1) of the seating unit and joined to the floor (10) of the vehicle by a removable locking system.
