The invention relates to a method of changing connection to a new access point, based on traffic demand, which tackles the problems of bandwidth and wireless network handover. In particular, the invention relates to wireless standards which are available at retail price and which do not require network planning (such as Ultrawideband, BluetoothTM, IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, etc.). In order to provide the active user with a high bandwidth and an interruption-free handover, the mobile device is converted into the master of various different access points at times of high packet traffic demand. Normally, the majority of users are in the passive state in a wireless network and require a low bandwidth (low packet data traffic or control signalling flow). While in said passive mode, the mobile device is slave to an access point which is master of one or more slave mobile devices.
