<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently improving the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) amplification of 5' non-translated region of hepatitis C virus (HCV). <P>SOLUTION: Specific and improved oligonucleotide primers for RT-PCR amplification of HCV are provided.
