PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the weld of a contactor surely even if one of circuits is faulty. SOLUTION: This power supply device for a vehicle comprises a traveling battery 1 composed of a plurality of battery modules 2 connected in series, a contactor 6 connected to the output side of the traveling battery 1, a control circuit 7 for turning the contactor 6 on and off, and a circuit 3 for detecting the voltage of the battery modules 2 in the traveling battery 1. The control circuit 7 comprises a first output voltage detection circuit 7a for detecting an output voltage from the contactor 6. The voltage detection circuit 3 comprises a circuit 3b for detecting an input voltage to the contactor 6, and a second output voltage detection circuit 3a for detecting an output voltage from the contactor 6. The power supply device is arranged such that the second output voltage detection circuit 3a of the voltage detection circuit 3 detects the output voltage from the contactor 6 in a state that the first output voltage detection circuit 7a cannot detect the output voltage from the contactor 6, thus detecting the weld of the contactor 6.
