The invention relates to a mixing device (10), particularly for producing a suspension consisting of at least one respective liquid component and solid component. The mixing device comprises a mixing chamber in which a shaft (12) is rotationally arranged, said shaft determining an axis of rotation (A). Several mixing blades (16) are fixed to the shaft (12), rotating with said shaft (12) in a preferred direction of rotation (R). At least two of the mixing blades (16) have a wedge-shaped base body (24) when see from a cross-sectional point of view, said base body extending from the shaft in a radially outward manner, and a mixing blade head (28) which is also wedge-shaped and which is connected to the free end of the base body (24). The wedge tips (26 and 30) of the base body (24) or mixing blade head (28) are both oriented in the preferred direction of rotation (R) of the shaft and the mixing blade head (28) widens out more strongly in an axial direction than the base body (24), starting from the associated wedge tip (30). As a result a transition area (36) is formed between the narrower base body (24) and the broader mixing blade head (28) on at least one side of the base body (24). Said transition area (36) is inclined in relation to the axis of rotation (A) of the shaft in such a way that items to be mixed, contained in the mixing chamber, are transported in an inner direction towards the shaft (12) when the shaft (12) rotates in the preferred direction of rotation (R).
