A travelling band filter medium 14 (Fig. 3 not shown) is entrained, between a vacuum drum (1) where it picks up filter cake (20) and a discharge roll (16), over a rotatable roll 15 having a concave support surface, whereby the edge portions of band 14 move further than the centre portion to compensate for centre sag under the weight of cake 20 (Fig. 4, not shown). The roll 15 may comprise two frusto conical members 24, axially adjustable on central shaft 21, with set screws 26. Additional adjustment of the concavity of roll 15 is achieved by changing the members 24 for others of different taper. Drum 11 rotates in a slurry tank and drives the band 14. Roll 15 may replace discharge roll (16). |
