MOTION CORRECTION DEVICE AND METHOD

It is possible to realize a motion correction device capable of appropriately correcting motion of a video signal which has been subjected to double speed conversion. The device detects a motion vector between the current field image in the video signal subjected to the double speed conversion and a reference field image later by one frame or two. The pixels of the current field are shifted according to the motion vector and the pixels of the reference field are shifted in the reverse direction according to the motion vector. A simple average or average weighted according to the movement amount is calculated between the current field pixels and the reference field pixels, thereby correcting the current field. Thus, it is possible to correct the motion between fields more smoothly than in the conventional way.
