PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of high versatility for reproducing a moderate operation reaction force in an operation piece. SOLUTION: This operating device comprises: the operation piece operated by a person; an operation force detection means for detecting the operation force applied to the operation piece by the person; a means for detecting the speed of the operation piece; and a means for calculating a first speed by adding a speed variation calculated from acceleration caused by the detected operation force to the speed of the detected operation piece. This operating device also comprises: a means for determining a force in the opposite direction to the first speed; a means for calculating a second speed by adding the speed variation calculated from acceleration caused by the determined opposite force to the first speed and for setting the calculated second speed to be zero when the calculated second speed is in the opposite direction to the first speed; and an actuator for operating the operating piece so as to vary the speed of the operation piece to the second speed calculated by a second speed calculating means.
