PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alumina filaments or alumina filament formed article having excellent stretchability and bulkiness. SOLUTION: This alumina filament knitted fabric is obtained by doubling or twisting, and/or knitting or weaving the precursors of alumina filaments and such organic fibers as shrunk at temperature of≤250°C at a shrinking rate of≥20% and burnt and atomized, when burnt, as reinforcing fibers, and then subjecting the formed article to a dry heating treatment and a calicining treatment.
