<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for inkjet recording to be used for an inkjet recording sheet which shows excellent shelf stability as blank sheet and for image, image recording properties, glossiness and post-printing cockling, and an inkjet recording sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The base material for inkjet recording has a coating layer which contains at least one kind of white pigment selected from titanium oxide and calcium carbonate, kaolin with not more than 0.5 μm average particle diameter and not less than 80% mass ratio of particles measuring not more than 2 μm particle diameter in a ratio of 5/95-95/5 and further, an adhesive, formed on a paper support.
