发明名称 Honeycomb materials
摘要 1,060,121. Laminates and laminating. DUFAYLITE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Feb. 1, 1965 [March 2, 1964], No. 8688/64. Heading B5N. A honeycomb laminate is made by advancing a band of structural honeycomb material, made of paper or thin cardboard, in the expanded state, feeding paper into contact with at least one face of the band and maintaining the advancing assembly under pressure with a tacky adhesive between the paper and the honeycomb material, to stick them together. The adhesive is applied to the honeycomb material, and the step of advancing the assembly under pressure is begun with the moisture content of the paper substantially less than that of the honeycomb material. As shown, honeycomb material 1 is expanded between curved guide fences (one shown at 3), is coated with adhesive by rollers 5 and 6, and has webs of paper applied to it by rollers 7 and 8. These webs are dried by heaters 14 and 15 or 16 and 17 or both, and the assembly is cooled between belts 11 and 12. If only one side of the honeycomb is to be covered, one paper web is omitted and the adhesive-applying roll on that side moved out of its operating position. The machine may be driven solely by the bands 11 and 12, but it is preferred to drive also rollers 5, 6, 7 and 8. The paper to be applied may have an outer layer of metal foil; in this case the heaters 16 and 17 are not used. The adhesive may be an aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate. Slices of structural honeycomb material may be secured together to form long lengths before being laminated.
