PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous polyimide having a fine closed-cell structure, a low dielectric constant and high heat resistance, especially to provide a film thereof and methods for producing these. SOLUTION: The porous polyimide is obtained by the steps of polycondensing a substituted 1,3-diaminobenzene expressed by general formula (I) (where R represents an alicyclic hydrocarbon) and an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride to obtain a polyamic acid, thermally or chemically imidizing the obtained polyamic acid and heating the imidized product. Such a porous polyimide can be obtained by applying a polyamic acid solution, obtained by polycondensing the substituted 1,3-diaminobenzene and the aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride in a solvent, on a substrate and drying it into a polyamic acid film, then thermally or chemically imidizing this polyamic acid and heating the imidized product.
