PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter vehicle communication device which transmits a transmission signal in proper timing to another vehicle. SOLUTION: A circumferential vehicle detection section 5 of the inter vehicle communication device detects another vehicle present in a specified area including the position of its own vehicle. A transmission range setting section 8 sets a transmission range based upon the position of the other detected vehicle. A transmission control section 11 transmits the transmission signal with transmission output intensity which is large enough for the transmission signal to reach the set transmission range.
