SOLUTION: This foldable portable electronic apparatus 1 mounted with the azimuth detecting means 201 having the magnetic sensor is provided with an opening and closing detection means 114 for detecting the opening and closing of the portable electronic apparatus 1, and a control means 108 for starting acquisition of an output data from the magnetic sensor at timing of opening and closing the portable electronic apparatus 1 detected by the opening and closing detection means 114, for estimating an offset that is an error in the output from the magnetic sensor, based on the acquired data, and for updating an offset value used for correcting the output from the magnetic sensor.
