<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for a diesel engine, capable of supplying HC necessary amount for a selective reducing type NOx catalyst while suppressing oil dilution. <P>SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device for the diesel engine equipped with a fuel injection valve 17 for directly injecting fuel to the inside of a combustion chamber 5 and the selective reducing type NOx catalyst 16 provided on an exhaust passage 11 for reducing and purifying NOx in exhaust gas in the presence of HC, the fuel injection valve 17 performs secondary injection for supplying HC to the NOx catalyst 16 in addition to main injection, and injection timing of the secondary injection is set in the vicinity of an intake air top dead center such that injected fuel by the secondary injection directly collides against a piston cavity 4a wall face forming the combustion chamber 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
