<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine capable of enlarging an executable region of filter regeneration onto the low load side compared with conventional ones. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device 1 applied to a diesel engine equipped with a turbocharger 10, comprises a prior stage oxidation catalyst 13 provided downstream of a turbine 10b of the turbocharger 10; a post-stage oxidation catalyst 14 provided downstream of the prior stage oxidation catalyst 13; a particulate filter 15 provided downstream of the post-stage oxidation catalyst 14; and an injector 5 for supplying fuel required for filter regeneration of oxidizing to eliminate particulates accumulated on the particulate filter 15. The prior stage oxidation catalyst 13 is set in its volume so that space velocity during idling operation of the diesel engine 2 is 175,000 (1/h) or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
