PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to arbitrarily select the kind of an antenna to be used and conduct suitable reception control in accordance with the kind of an antenna in a TV broadcast receiver for receiving a ground wave. SOLUTION: The TV broadcast receiver 1 is provided with an antenna changeover switch 19 for allowing the user to select one of a smart antenna 2 and a unidirectional antenna (not shown) as the kind of a connected antenna. If the unidirectional antenna is selected by the switch 19, the receiver 1 switches control to a unidirectional antenna mode in which only the channel control signal is outputted to control the reception operation of a TV broadcast signal. If the smart antenna 2 is selected, the receiver 1 switches the control to a smart antenna control mode in which the channel control signal and a reception direction control signal are outputted to control the reception operation of the TV broadcast signal.
