PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive shedding motion of a water jet loom, making it possible that a lubricant retained in shaft bearings of guide rollers is difficult to be emulsified by free water used in the loom and always keeps a good lubricating state in the shaft bearings. SOLUTION: This passive shedding motion 10 of the water jet loom is so structured that a heald frame 26 is made to perform shedding movement by a drive mechanism 11 arranged on a floor face and spring mechanism 29, 30 arranged above the loom, wherein the motion includes ropes 17, 18 which connect the drive mechanism 11 and the heald frame 26, the guide rollers 20 of which the each is integrally equipped with the shaft bearing 41 and used for guiding the ropes 17, 18, and a support shaft 19 which supports the guide roller 20. Further, a first concave and convex part 51 is formed on at least one of board surfaces of each of the guide rollers 20 in such a manner as to surround an outer peripheral side of the shaft bearing 41, and a lubricant retaining space 53 which fronts on the first concave and convex part 51 is positioned between the guide rollers 20, by opposing the one of the board surfaces of the guide roller 20 to the other board surface of another guide roller 20.
