PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polylactic acid fiber free of wrap tightening of its package during storage and low in shrinkage in undergoing processing its fabric such as dyeing. SOLUTION: The polylactic acid fiber is characterized by being≥90°C in thermal stress peak temperature and≤0.1 cN/dtex in peak stress. As a more preferable embodiment, the polylactic acid fiber has a boiling water shrinkage of≤8%, a tenacity of≥4.0 cN/dtex, an elongation at break of≥25%, a resin relative viscosity of 2.5-3.5 and a melting point of≥150°C.
