PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of improving heating capability without impairing the capability of a heater core and preventing fog of a window and increase in noise. SOLUTION: In this air conditioner 1 for the vehicle provided with a cooling circuit 3 having a compressor 9 driven by an engine 7, an outdoor heat exchanger 11 connected with a discharge side of the compressor 9, and an indoor heat exchanger 17 connected with a suction side of the compressor 9 and the heater core 21 using cooling water of the engine 7 as a heating source, a bypass circuit 27 for connecting the discharge side and the suction side of the compressor 9 in the cooling circuit 3 mutually is provided, and a coolant heat exchanger 31 for exchanging heat between a cooling water circuit 19 for connecting the engine 7 with the heater core 21 and it and a restriction 33 for reducing pressure of refrigerant are provided in the bypass circuit 27.
