<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device capable of shortening the startup time until a regulated number of revolutions is attained and reducing the electric power consumption during stationary revolution, and an image projection apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device A is equipped with a light source means 8 which is arranged on the circumference and has a plurality of LEDs (light source sections) 7 emitting illumination light, a light guide means which has an incident end 10A for capturing the illumination light emitted by the LEDs 7 and an exit end 10B emitting the illumination light captured from the incident end 10A, and reflected and transmitted by the inside face, a driving means for rotating the light guide means around a turning axis with an axis which passes a center of the circumference disposed with the LED 7 and is orthogonal with a face inclusive of the circumference as the turning axis C, and a rod cover (cover section) 12 which covers at least a portion of the light guide means and reduces the drag received from peripheral air accompanying the turning of the light guide means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
